French composer Lucie Antunes expands her sonic horizons with her fun second album Carnaval. Following the critical success of 2019’s Sergei, the classically trained drummer and percussionist releases a lush, electronically oriented follow-up, packed with positive praise and designed for the dancefloor.
The songs that are recorded on this album demonstrate Lucie’s particular way of understanding sound, located at the opposite end of what is commercial, what is generic, what works: what she does is, on the contrary, a kind of unstable magma of pulsations and glows, of melodic strokes and blurred textures, pursuing a serene, spiritual, almost ascetic expression. All those languages and influences that she drew from dialogue on this album, creating new, different and highly evolved sound organisms.
Lucie’s command of language is total, and here they have once again delved into the past to be inspired by another verse, more forceful and melancholic, but no less evocative. All in all, we can safely say that this Loosh is on the verge of excellence.
On 23 November, Lucie Antunes is bringing her “Carnaval” to Barcelona. She will be performing the album live at Laut at the Infiné label night.
Her live shows are an infectious and joyous display of club music with an organic sensibility and entrance is free, so reserve your spot now!
