Miami Encode Interview Frenzy Jones after his recent “Purple Love” release
How would you present/describe your work to someone who doesn’t know you?
A mixture of all that I like, from the 80’s sounds and synthesizers, to modern electronic music and in between.
And your last record? How was it born? And where do you want it to lead?
Came out as an idea while messing around with my Sequential Prophet Rev 2 synthesizer. Then I came up with the lyrics and the melody and all was put together with ease afterwards.
What message would you like to convey to the public?
That the love is there and to stay.
How do you make music? What is most important for you?
Nowadays I mainly try and stick up to hardware. Love synthesizers and such machines, just the approach to music with them is different that when you work with software alone.
Is there a unifying concept behind your art?
The art itself. Just trying to express my visions in my own manner.
What makes you unique?
My art 🙂
As for your studio, what is it currently composed of?
Right now it is full of synthesizers, drum machines and samplers. Big fan of analogue gear, just have this passion for synths.
What is the one instrument you would never get rid of, no matter what?
I love them all to be hones, they are all unique, have selected only unique machines that can’t be really overlapped by others. It’s difficult to pick up just one, hard question. Maybe My Sequential OB6 for its timeless sound.
Do you have hope for the future of music? How would you like the future of the music industry to be?
I do. But feel like how record companies were dealing with artists in the 80’s, 90’s and before is better than it is now. The music and the artist were valued more at the time. I feel nowadays that they care only about how many followers you have, first checking that before listening to the actual music. And keep making you pay for your own promotion, ads etc, so what’s the point of them really.
Can you reveal some future projects to us?
Working on some more tracks, diversed ones. More house sounding material to be released the next few months, but also working on a full lenght EP that’d be again heavily influenced by the 80s sound.
What makes you happy?
My wife and my baby daughter and the support they are giving me.
What bothers you?
That I don’t have enough space for all of the synths I want to get 🙂
