Can you tell us a little about your experience? Where are you from / how did you get into music?
In the early 90s, I heard the first DJ sets from the upcoming techno scene on a Saturday night radio show called “HR3 Clubnight”. I was captured by this new world of sounds and in 1996 started playing with synthesizers and producing my own first Techno tracks. This marked the beginning of my career as a Techno producer and live act performer. From 1996 to 2003 I was the third member of a live act trio called “Der 7. Weg”, where I was responsible for the synthesizers part and also played two times at the legendary club Tresor in Berlin.
Besides making music, I co-founded the event collective “Harlequins Universe” in 1997, which stands for legendary festivals in the southwestern area of Germany at very special places like castles and other beautiful spots in nature.
In 2009 my current music project “JOIX” started and in 2019 I started my own label “Sounds of Jericho”.
It seems that the underground scene continues to persist. Do you think “normal” events and festivals will return?
Yes, I think everything will return with more power again. The people are hungry for good party times now after years of silence.
How is your sound evolving? What artists and genres do you enjoy mixing right now?
I would say the rhythmical basics are also the same but the sound and effect work evolved a lot in the past years. As a live act, I only play my own tracks.
How do you feel your music influences or impacts your listeners?
Mostly based on their good reaction on the dancefloor, but also when DJs play my tracks in their sets.
What projects are you working on right now? What can you tell us about your last job?
My last job was the curation of remixes for a remix compilation, where I also made a new mix of an older track by me called “Mantra”. It was the right time to bring out this special song again and ask some very talented artists to remix it.
What bothers you?
Sometimes it’s too much distraction cause of Social Media.
What makes you happy?
When I finished a track.
Do you have any final words of wisdom?
Never lose faith in your own strength and creativity!
