INTERVIEW: Mattia Trani

Mattia invited his favorite producers from the past and present to create their own vision of his music.
The remix album is scheduled for a June 30 release and will be released on vinyl, 3-part and digital.

We have had the pleasure of interviewing him, and this has been the result.

How would you present your work to someone who doesn’t know you?

In few words I could described my music as fast & agressive pattern rhythms with big atmospheres and a touch of soul.

How did your new release come about and what is the concept behind it?

the concept behind scenery is the dystopian future , a soundtrack that can stay with u when u walk in an unknown city of the future when robots and humans live together, this concept is connected with the cyberpunk scenarios.

the remixes series is important because i wanted some reworks from my heroes of techno and we did it, im so proud of the final tracks: definitely high quality techno!

As for your studio, what is it currently made up of?

At the moment i go for an hybrid setup: DAW is logic pro x with lot of digital plug-ins and instruments like serum / alchemy / diva etc and for recording the external instruments like my elektron analog rytm or hydrasynth and many other synths i use the universal audio apollo 8 duo, one of the best audio device.

so i can say that i splitted the studio in 2 parts : one for recordings with computer and the other one all hardware/ machine where i prepare my live sets

What is the one instrument you would never get rid of, no matter what?

MOOG SUBSEQUENT 37 : the sound of the bass lines is amazing and no one other synth can do the same sound

What was the last record store you visited? And what did you buy?

Few months ago i went in a small town close to Bologna and i bought some records inside an unknown shop: I selected some movies soundtrack like Vangelis and old school classics like Prodigy stuff.

Finally, what makes you happy?

Everything that makes me smile, in the music world of course i like to play live my music and im feeling very happy when people dance and enjoy my music.

About real life, i like to enjoy the simple things, have fun with my friends and my girl.
