New York duo Truth x Lies are set to fire up the dance floors once again with the release of their latest single ‘Dos Gardenias’. Quickly becoming one of the most sought after acts within the tech house space, Truth x Lies have quickly become one of the most dynamic and exciting acts in the genre, captivating audiences with their unique sound and electrifying live performances. The pair’s latest release comes on the tenth release on Lee Foss’ new label North of Neptune, and follows in the footsteps of their March-released single, ‘The Get Down’, which found a home in Matroda’s underground terminal. . Promising to be another exciting addition to the couple’s burgeoning discography, ‘Two Gardenias’ is now available to stream on all platforms via North of Neptune.

We have had the pleasure of interviewing them, and this has been the result.

How would you present your work to someone who doesn’t know you?

Ideally, I would send them a mahogany box with a velvet pillow inside, and on that pillow is a golden USB with ‘Dos Gardenias’ on it. That would be the absolute best way. If I can’t do that, I would probably just send them ‘Dos Gardenias’, ‘The Get Down’, and all our unreleased tunes.

And your recent track ‘Dos Gardenias’? What was the creative process like? And where do you want it to lead?

We live in the Washington Heights neighborhood in New York City which is predominantly Latin American. Ian was born here and Ryan has lived in this neighborhood for almost 15 years. We get to hear tons of bachata, salsa, reggaeton and tons of other really great latin music on the streets. Once we found the right sample and worked on getting the vibe right it came together really fast.

What message would you like to convey to the public?

House music is a community and we want everyone to feel at home in it! The culture that surrounds House music is such a beautiful and unique thing.

How did your last project come about?

We met through a mutual friend back in 2012 or so and we started throwing events together in NYC. We started off writing Moombahton and Latin Trap type stuff under a different name, but eventually we caught the House bug and started Truth x Lies!

What do you want to transmit in this work? What is the concept behind it? As for your studio, what is it currently made up of?

We both have studios at our apartments, and we live 3 blocks away from each other, so writing is pretty easy for us. We write pretty much everything just using the computer, but we also have lots of synths, gear, and instruments lying around!

What is the one instrument you would never get rid of, no matter what?

Drums for Ian, and Trumpet for Ryan!

What was the last record store you visited? And what did you salvage from there?

I used to work at a record store / online music equipment store, so I was constantly getting free or cheap gear. I got a pair of CDJ-1000’s for free!

Do you have hope for the future of music? How would you like the future of the music industry to be?

I do have hope for the future of music, but I definitely think we will continue to have growing pains, especially as AI continues to be fully fleshed out.

Can you reveal some future projects?

We have some big remixes coming out that we’ve been working on, a collab with one of our favorite producers/humans, a STACK of originals to release, and we’re working on a tour for the summer and fall!

What makes you happy?

Food. And House Music. But yeah, I really love food. Especially empanadas. On a more serious note though, seeing people enjoy the music that we create makes me incredibly happy. Best feeling in the world!

Thanks for having us fam, much love!
