The soulful-house group’s latest single, Tortured Soul, is an exploration of happiness and the sometimes complicated journey we take to get there. The actual horns featured on the original track are a fun twist for live house creators Tortured Soul. The bundle also includes two handpicked HOT remixes from UK and South African Trailblazing producers. We are proud to present to you this latest exciting home offering.

We have had the pleasure of interviewing Tortured Soul, and this has been the result.

How would you present/describe your work to someone who doesn’t know you?
This project represents productions that champion story telling and songwriting, in a soul, disco and house music format  , and is performed live by live musicians who are first and foremost , live musicians

And your last record? How was it born? And where do you want it to lead?
It was born of a memory of how I met my wife . I took some creative license and  dramatized the conflict , but that memory was the inception . I want it to lead me to the stage where The band will perform the song

What message would you like to convey to the public?
That music should never be undervalued .

How do you make music? What is most important for you?
If I’m inspired – Sing into the phone ( into a recording app) write down a lyric while walking down the street and most often – sit in the studio playing around with chords and Melodies for hours on end .
That there is something about it that honestly inspired me .

Is there a unifying concept behind your art?
For the last 20 years every show has been live . With live drums bass and keyboards, and more recently guitar
you have to collaborate and compromise when You are playing music with 2 or 3 other people . You have to be aware of what they are doing even after you’ve rehearsed or played the music 100 times – as well , like any good dj knows you have to read the crowd and make adjustments so you have a collectively good experience .
I think those two things qualify as unifying .

What makes you unique?
Singing and playing drums at the same time is a feature of the live show that although not unique is different . And as mentioned when the band performs it is always live . Nothing is pre recorded , so every note played in a real sense is actually unique . So every live show is unique .

As for your studio, what is it currently composed of?
It’s pretty minimal
Logic 10 a couple drum machines a few mics and preamps mostly software instruments .

What is the one instrument you would never get rid of, no matter what?
The live drum set

Do you have hope for the future of music? How would you like the future of the music industry to be?
I think streaming has somewhat devalued music across the board
The majority of people expect to get music for free or at a very low subscription price , while at the same time really loving the music they listen to.
It’s almost like music currently gives people practically unconditional love , but the truth is producers and musicians are having a rough time providing the goods for such little compensation

Can you reveal some future projects to us?
Will be releasing a full album later this year

What makes you happy?
Writing a good song playing a good live show , making my kids laugh
And cooking my wife good food .

What bothers you?
Too many things to list .
But here’s one :
When radical religious folks say to an someone who’s agnostic  or an atheist : just in case there is a  god , better to err on the side of caution and  “believe “- so in case there is a hell , you don’t go there …
why won’t they take the same approach and say : just in case climate change is real , let’s err on the side of caution and
take steps to protect the environment instead of ruining the earth ?  You know ?
“ just in case “

Rebūke in thrilling form, releasing sci-fi inspired three-tracker ‘Dystopia’ on Drumcode

The Irishman has been a standout contributor on the label since his debut in 2019 with ‘Rattle’, a classic of the form. Follow up releases ‘Obscurity’ and ‘Wasp’ subsequently stamped him as an infallible go-to producer for Adam Beyer thanks to his ability to create powerful techno music with a memorable sound signature. A dynamic cut made for 4am raving, ‘Dystopia’ chops and changes between an unsettling melody line and […]
