VA – EPISTOLAR [Raise Records]

Epistolar is the first Various Artist of an epistolary genre, originating from a collaboration between Raise Records and Radio Loubard. Its structure is composed of correspondences of several authors, several characters, several sensibilities, and several messages. Aiming at co-constructing a story in perpetual motion, Epistolar is the result of various connections on which each artist depends.

The concept is simple : an artist produces a track which is sent to another artist whose mission is to freely modify the initial message. The artist adds to this letter his or her message before sending it to another artist. The recipient does the same without knowing what the first artists composed and so on.

With the last letter acting as an open epilogue, Epistolar’s narrative is available to new authors, encouraging the continuation of a never-ending, evolving and collaborative story. Listening to it as a conversation between artists, the listener is introduced to the various connections making him/her an integral part of the movement.
